PPL to Raise Money for Public Paddle Cts in Atlanta

The Peachtree Paddle League is pleased to announce an initiative to raise funds toward a two (or more) court public platform tennis venue in Atlanta (site to be chosen later in partnership with the management of  an interested / existing tennis venue such as Bitsy Grant, Chastain Park, Sandy Springs TC, etc).

Christy Harris, avid player and captain of the Bitsy Grant team, is spearheading the effort, which begins with a fabulous vacation property rental auction, with donated properties ranging from Sea Island to Seaside to Blackberry Farms.  The bidding opens shortly and will conclude Saturday January 26th during the Peachtree Invitational Player & Sponsor's party.  Advance inquires and copies of the prospectus of properties for the auction can be addressed to Christy at christy.harris@mindspring.com. All bidders entered into a free Wilson paddle racquet raffle!

Peter Lauer, founder and director of PPL remarked that "the sport is so much fun, tennis players love it and key to growth is to make the sport widely available beyond private clubs, much as tennis is across Atlanta.  We've had preliminary conversations with numerous venues that would like to have paddle, but the cost to build courts ahead of clear demand makes it a hard hurdle to cross."  So fund raising to help a facility build courts is very consistent with the mission statement of the PPL, which is to grow the great sport of platform tennis in greater Atlanta - please everyone do support the cause and win a fabulous vacation from our generous donors!"
