2014 Peachtree Invitational - Sets New Records!

The 9th Annual Peachtree Invitational Platform Tennis Tournament played across metro Atlanta Jan 24-26, 2014 set new records and was by all accounts a smashing success.

128 men and women from 10 states and including 2 former national champions competed in this National ranking tournament. With the Cherokee Town Club two court venue as host and the 5 other platform tennis venues in Atlanta with 7 other courts as co-hosts, this triple elimination pair of tournaments crowned Freddy Goldenberg & Sharon LeRoux of Atlanta the Women's champs

and Graham McNerney (Atlanta) & Jerry Albrikes (Charleston, SC) the Men's.

The Tournament also raised $5500 toward public paddle courts in Atlanta through a raffle of high end donated items including fine wine, Wilson gear and a grand prize 3 night stay at the legendary Blackberry Farm in TN - Robert Stahl of Chicago, a frequent guest player in the tournament was the lucky winner. The focus of the effort is Bitsy Grant Tennis Center, where we're pleased to announce that paddle courts are now on the Master Plan which has been developed and approved by the various interested parties and is soon to be submitted to the City of Atlanta.

This year's tournament even received TV coverage thanks to Zach Klein of WSB Channel 2 in Atlanta. Sincere thanks go to the 38 volunteers who contributed to the effort of putting on our very best tournament yet!
