The Villages Hosts a Great Fun Tourney & 3 Atlantans Compete
Joe Perdue, Ben Selman & Peter Lauer roadtripped to The Villages north of Orlando for their 1st Regional Tournament - the Joe Russo Shootout. Run by Bob Wiltman, formerly a star player in Pittsburgh, and now Village resident, the event is in honor of long time player from NJ, Joe Russo, who got the Villages started into paddle 4 years ago by convincing management to build 6 courts. Today the number is 12, and 6 more are under construction for a total of 18 by spring!
Joe & Ben paired together, and took second place in a 3 set shoot out against the winners, Bob Wiltman and Mark Kebe, long time player, Pgh native, Cinci resident court builder with Total Platform & sponsor of PPL. Great fun event, which included 9 holes of golf at the Pelican Executive Course in The Villages. For those who've not ever experienced the place, highly recommend the trip - it's amazing!
Special thanks to Jim Kargen, for playing four delightful matches, 2 of which went 3 sets, with the lefty gimp (Peter Lauer)!
