Graham & Alex Win the Men's 2016 Peachtree Invitational

Congratulations to local phenom Graham McNerney and his partner Alex Bancilla from Chicago on their 6-2, 7-6 win over first seeds Scott Kahler and Tyler Nolan from Pittsburgh in the 11th Annual Peachtree Invitational Men's championship February 21st at the beautiful Cherokee Town Club 2 court paddle venue.  In a fast paced, action packed match in front of a crowd of over 100 spectators.

Freddy & Ewa Win the 2016 Women's Peachtree Invitational

Congratulations to Freddy Goldenberg & Ewa Radzikowska for winning the 2016 Peachtree Invitational Platform Tennis Tournament on February 19th.  They defeated last year's champions, Lisa Teer & Agata Cioroch, 6-1, 6-4 in a powerful yet smoothly played match among four great athletes  The weather was perfect, unlike last year when the snow was falling on the ladies in the finals.

Graham McNerney Wins the PPL Cup

Although not there to compete in the Final Series Event on Saturday Feb 13th (due to competing in the Phily Grand Prix tournament), Graham McNerney wins the '15/16 PPL Championship & takes the perpetual cup for the year.

Graham finished the season with a combined 330 points, besting Peter Lauer's 315 points for 2nd place, with Bruce Dickson (last year's winner) in 3rd place with 292.

Rounding out the top 5 were Ann Gieryn with 211 and Lang Adler with 192 points.

All of which begs the question - "what all goes into these point totals?"  

The answer is, a series of metrics tracked from throughout the season:

- number of PPL matches played
- net number of sets won
- net number of games won
- number of different opponents played with and against
- a correction factor for skill level - the higher the skill level, the higher the factor
- results from each of the 3 League Series Championship events held

Sets & games during season matches are pulled from the results reporting system - so be sure your matches's results are submitted by the designated score keeper.

And play a lot!!!

3rd & Final Series Event (Feb 13th) is in the Record Books

24 Players competed in the PPL Series Event Saturday Feb 13th for the '15/16 Season.

This, the 3rd and Final event, was again played at the Bitsy Grant Paddle Venue with 3 flights of 8 players competing in a round robin format.  Our thanks to Bruce & Frank for running the event.

Results:

Brad Brown & Al Hicks took the first flight with 36 pts to best 2nd place team of Sissy & Michael Luciani with 30.
